Then we began to relax and felt a level of calm and enjoyment. The first 40 minutes were sat there and admired the view of the vineyard, mountains, the city below as a hawk flew by. My favorites were the Chardonnay and Brut. After the normal tastings, they asked if I wanted to try anything else, I tried a Sauvignon Blanc. They were need the sampling with a Syrah. After about 20-30 we sampled 2 Pinot Noir, again one from Santa Maria grapes and one from the winery vineyard only. After the sparkling wine, they serve you 2 Chardonnays side by side to compare, a Santa Maria version and one with all the grapes from this vineyard. We loved all the food and were really impressed with the chefs creativity and plating. Lastly they had pita triangles with a bowl of farmers cheese, orange slice, and blood orange is a light sweet sauce at the bottom.
The wings were a nice large size, perfectly cooked, with a sweet sticky sauce which was perfect. There was jasmine rice perfectly cooked and a white bean coconut curry with peanuts (they do ask if there are any food allergies before we started). The salad was butter lettuce, mushrooms, edamame, and cucumber slices with a light flavorful vinaigrette. The food is brought out all at one tapas style which we love. It was absolutely beautiful.Ī dedicated experience host walked us through the wines and food over the next 2 hours. We were seated on the patio overlooking the vineyard, Santa Maria, and the vast mountain range. We were greeted right away and given a glass of wine at check in, it was a brut sparkling wine which is now one of my favorites,
It is easy to navigate where to go with the signs and the parking lot is right at the venue for tasting. When you first pull into the vineyard you drive through all the grape vines for what seems like at least half a mile up and down hills, it is beautiful. This place far exceeded all my expectations. CAUSE and its predecessor organization PUEBLO have worked in Santa Maria for many years to advance the city’s approach to immigrant rights, expand public transit and youth programs, and uplift farmworker rights.Wanted to do a wine tour in the area with a food experience. As Santa Maria grows, it continues to change, with a greater focus on investing in youth, being inclusive of immigrant families, and diversifying its economy. As a center of industrial agriculture, Santa Maria has attracted immigrants from across the world to work in the fields, set deep roots and raise families in the community, but the town has long been marked with political conflicts over immigration. With a median age of just 29, Santa Maria’s population is one of the youngest in the Central Coast. With an economy rooted in oil, agriculture, and the military, the Santa Maria Valley has been historically conservative, but that is changing with a new generation. Yet despite Santa Maria’s over 75% Latino population, these demographics are still not fully reflected in political and economic leadership in the region.
Over time, Santa Barbara County’s population has shifted towards the more affordable northern end of the county, which is more rural, working-class and majority Latino. Santa Maria is the largest and fastest growing city in Santa Barbara County.
